Zeynep Şahin Tutuk

The “red” of the team. The color holic. The word-nerd. She likes her coffee with no sugar.  Can’t resist dessert, especially dark chocolate. She is a music lover; loves working, resting, reading and sleeping with music. She is a detail-oriented person. She has been looking after plants since her childhood, and admires sycamore trees, olive trees and all sorts of flowers.  She is a recycling volunteer, a decoration enthusiast. She loves cooking and meeting people around food. She is interested in both world and Ottoman cuisine. She develops her own recipes. She likes to read books very slowly, building a bond with each one over time, so she reads multiple books at once. 

She was born in Ankara. She graduated in Journalism with honors at Gazi University, Faculty of Communication. She had her master’s degree at Doğuş University Social Sciences Institute Communication Sciences, and graduated 1st in class. She studied diction and voice-over and worked as a radio announcer for 3 years. She started journalism as an intern at Anadolu Agency, then worked for Cumhuriyet newspaper for 4 years. She received the TMMOB Chamber of City Planners – Urban Planning Press Award.  In 2009, switching from journalism to corporate communication, she worked as the Corporate Communications Coordinator of Doğuş University for 4 years and Istanbul Technical University for 2 years. She worked as a copywriter for a variety of programs on TRT Haber, NTV, and WTC channels.

Her first book was published by İTÜ Vakfı Yayınları (ITÜ Foundation Publishing) in 2018 with the name “Televizyon Diye Bir Şey Varmış” (There was Something Called Television). The memoir-review type book looking closer to pre-TRT TV broadcasting is “a first work to reveal a first” in Turkey’s recent history. Her second book “Kanatlarımda İstanbul (Istanbul in My Wings)” was published by Alfa Publishing in 2019. The book she co-wrote with the Historian-Professional Guide Saffet Emre Tonguç is about İstanbul’s history and today including photographs taken with drones. She has also edited several books.

She held interviews for different projects with many reputable names, such as Prof Dr Aziz Sancar, Şarık Tara, Doğan Kuban, Sedat Üründül, Erol Üçer, Haldun Dormen, Gürbüz Doğan Ekşioğlu, Fusun Eczacıbaşı, Haldun Dormen, Halit Kıvanç, and Erol Evgin. She attended many conferences and programs as a keynote speaker.

She speaks English. She has been working as a freelance Communications Consultant since 2015 and focuses on social media management, online reputation management, website communication, and creative content production. She loves doing yoga, writing stories and lyrics, traveling and spending time in museums. All written content including website and social media of TELEMDEN are entrusted to Zeynep.
